The charging port is usually located on the frame or near the battery holder. Before you start, disconnect the battery or make sure the fatbike is switched off, and pay close attention to how the old port is wired before you disconnect it. Take a photo of the connection, so you can put the new port back exactly the same way. Can't manage it yourself or in doubt? Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

As of 2026, stricter rules apply around age, helmet requirements, and vehicle specifications. Check our information page for the latest details.
Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?
You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.
