Can I have my fatbike tuned by you?

Our fatbikes are tunable, and we also supply individual parts to upgrade your fatbike. Please note: tuning is only permitted on private property, not on public roads.

Is a fatbike still legal?

Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

What are the new fatbike rules for 2026?

Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?

You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.

Do you need a helmet on a fatbike?

A helmet is strongly recommended for your own safety. From 2026, a helmet requirement will be introduced for certain fatbike categories.

What does tuning a fatbike cost?

A tunable controller costs from 98 euro for the V20 family and the Ouxi models, and 179 euro for the GT2000. Fitting it yourself usually takes less than half an hour. Not sure which part fits your fatbike?

Ouxi GT16 Black

The Ouxi GT16 runs on a 250W motor with a 48V / 20Ah lithium-ion battery and goes up to 80 km. When ordering, choose the Restricted version (250W, 25 km/h) for the public road or Tunable up to 50 km/h for private property. The tuning parts are already included: you don't need to buy anything separately and only pay the price difference.

Ouxi GT16 – Black: fatbike on 16 inch with GPS tracking and alarm

The black Ouxi GT16 rides on 16 inch wheels with 16x3,0 inch fatbike tyres. A 250W motor gives pedal assist up to 25 km/h. The removable 48V / 20Ah battery takes you up to 80 km. You brake with hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, and front and rear suspension absorbs uneven surfaces.

The GT16 is made for 1 person. You recognise it by its motocross look with an oversized motorcycle-style saddle. For security it has GPS tracking, NFC security and an alarm system. Safety and the law

Hydraulic disc brakes work without a brake cable that can stretch. On top of that, the GT16 has NFC security, an alarm system and GPS tracking. In the Restricted (250W) version you ride legally on the public road straight away.

Comfort and riding position

The frame size is 72 cm. With 16 inch wheels the GT16 is smaller than our fatbikes on 20 or 24 inch. The oversized motorcycle-style saddle is larger than a regular bicycle saddle. Battery, display and charging

The 48V / 20Ah lithium-ion battery is removable. You charge it in the bike, or you take it out and charge it separately. The range is up to 80 km. The display is an HD colour LCD with NFC. When you walk next to the bike, walk assist helps up to 6 km/h.

Tuning: what is possible and what is allowed

The Restricted (250W) version has a 250W motor with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. In the Netherlands such a bike counts as an electric bicycle. You then need no driving licence, number plate, helmet or insurance. If you choose the Tunable version when you order, you tune the Ouxi GT16 to 50 km/h. The tuning parts are then already included, with the tunable controller with red motor plug: you don't need to buy anything separately and only pay the price difference. You will find a spare part later in the tuning kits, and the product finder shows which part belongs to which model. Walk assist up to 6 km/h is walking support for when you push the bike. Tuned riding is allowed on private or enclosed property only; on the public road a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies.

Service, warranty and delivery

You get 3 years warranty on the frame and 1 year on moving parts and the battery. Boxed, you assemble the bike yourself. Assembled, we build it up, adjust the brakes and check the battery, so it arrives ready to ride. Ordered before 23:59, delivered tomorrow in the Netherlands. Ouxi GT16 versus QMWheel V20 Pro

The QMWheel V20 Pro rides on 20 inch wheels with 20x4 inch tyres and has a frame size of 75 cm. Its battery is 48V / 15Ah, the one on the GT16 is 48V / 20Ah. On low assistance the V20 Pro reaches up to roughly 75 km, the GT16 up to 80 km. The V20 Pro weighs 34 kg and takes a second person along with an optional rear seat.

Ouxi GT16 versus Ouxi GT2000

The Ouxi GT2000 is one size larger: 24 inch wheels, 24x4,0 inch tyres and a frame size of 85 cm. Its 48V / 30Ah battery (1440 Wh) reaches up to 100 km on low assistance. Like the GT16 it is meant for 1 person and has hydraulic brakes. If you are looking for a smaller size, the GT16 suits you better.

Ouxi GT16 versus Ouxi V8 Ultra Max

The Ouxi V8 Ultra Max has two batteries of 48V / 15Ah, 1440 Wh together. It gets 120 km on average assistance. It rides on 20 inch wheels, weighs 40 kg and is suitable for 2 people. Like the GT16 it has front and rear suspension, 7 Shimano gears, NFC and an alarm.

Keep the 16x3,0 inch tyres at pressure. Check the brake pads and the chain regularly. The frame has 3 years warranty, moving parts and the battery 1 year.

Does the GT16 come assembled or boxed?

You decide that yourself when you order. Boxed, you put it together yourself. Assembled, we build it up, adjust the brakes and check the battery.
