Can I have my fatbike tuned by you?

Our fatbikes are tunable, and we also supply individual parts to upgrade your fatbike. Please note: tuning is only permitted on private property, not on public roads.

Is a fatbike still legal?

Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?

You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.

Do you need a helmet on a fatbike?

A helmet is strongly recommended for your own safety. From 2026, a helmet requirement will be introduced for certain fatbike categories.

What does tuning a fatbike cost?

A tunable controller costs from 98 euro for the V20 family and the Ouxi models, and 179 euro for the GT2000. Fitting it yourself usually takes less than half an hour. Not sure which part fits your fatbike?

Ouxi V8 2025 – Black: the updated V8 for every day

The Ouxi V8 2025 is the updated version of the V8, also known as V8 4.0. It rides on a 250W motor with a 48V / 15Ah / 720Wh battery. On the lowest assistance level you get up to 75 km. The hydraulic disc brakes have been improved compared with earlier V8 models.

Safety and the law

With the Restricted (250W) version you ride legally on the public road straight away. You then need no driving licence, number plate, helmet or insurance. The Tunable version can be tuned up to 50 km/h, but that speed belongs on private property. The Ouxi V8 2025 also has a built-in alarm.

Comfort and riding position

The frame size is 75 cm. The bike is suitable for 2 people and can carry a maximum of 150 kg. The front suspension absorbs cobbles and speed bumps. With 7 gears you choose a light or a heavy gear. Do keep the weight in mind, though: you do not simply carry 36 kg up a flight of stairs.

Battery, display and charging

You charge the 720 Wh battery from empty to full in 4 to 6 hours. How far you get depends on the assistance level, your riding style, speed, tyre pressure, temperature and terrain. The display is new and comes from the 4.0 generation of the V8.

Tuning: what is possible and what is allowed

The Tunable version can be tuned up to 50 km/h. With that version the tuning parts are already included: you do not need to buy anything separately and only pay the surcharge. The Ouxi V8 2025 belongs to the V8 family, so tuning is done with parts for the V8. If you later look for a spare part, you choose the controller by the colour of your motor plug. With a red plug, that is the tunable controller with red motor plug. With a black plug, that is the tunable V8 controller with black motor plug. There is also a tunable display with killswitch. Tuned riding is allowed on private or enclosed property only; on the public road a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies.

Service, warranty and delivery

The frame comes with 3 years warranty, moving parts and the battery with 1 year. You choose the delivery yourself. Boxed, you get the bike in its original box and assemble it yourself. If you choose assembled, we build up the bike, adjust the brakes and check the battery. It then arrives at your door ready to ride. Ordered before 23:59, delivered tomorrow in the Netherlands.

The V20 Pro weighs 34 kg and has a rear shock absorber in addition to a suspension fork. The Ouxi V8 2025 weighs 36 kg and has front suspension only.

Ouxi V8 2025 versus Ouxi GT2000

The Ouxi GT2000 has a 48V / 30Ah / 1440Wh battery, twice as much energy. On average assistance it reaches 80 km. It rides on 24 inch off-road tyres, weighs 34 kg and is meant for 1 person. Charging takes 5 to 6 hours. The Ouxi V8 2025, on the other hand, does take a passenger along.

Ouxi V8 2025 versus Ouxi V8 Ultra Max

The Ouxi V8 Ultra Max is also a V8 and also tunable to 50 km/h. It has two batteries with 1440 Wh together and gets 120 km on average assistance. On the other side of the scale are 40 kg of weight and 5 to 7 hours of charging time. If you often ride long distances, the Ultra Max makes more sense. If you want a lighter bike, the Ouxi V8 2025 saves you 4 kg.

Do I have to assemble the bike myself?

Only with boxed delivery. If you choose assembled, we build it up, adjust the brakes and check the battery.
