Can I have my fatbike tuned by you?

Our fatbikes are tunable, and we also supply individual parts to upgrade your fatbike. Please note: tuning is only permitted on private property, not on public roads.

Is a fatbike still legal?

Yes, a fatbike that complies with current regulations (max. 25 km/h pedal assist and a 250W motor) is fully legal on public roads. Tuned models may only be used on private property.

What are the new fatbike rules for 2026?

Do you need a driver’s license for a fatbike?

You don’t need a driver’s license for a regular fatbike with pedal assist up to 25 km/h. You do for tuned models above that limit. Keep in mind those are only allowed on private property.

Do you need a helmet on a fatbike?

A helmet is strongly recommended for your own safety. From 2026, a helmet requirement will be introduced for certain fatbike categories.

Can I tune an Ouxi C80 Mini or QMWheel V20 Mini?

No. The Ouxi C80 Mini, C63 Mini and the QMWheel V20 Mini cannot be tuned. There is no tunable controller or tunable display for these models; they stay restricted to 25 km/h. Do you want to tune after all? Then have a look at the Ouxi C80, V8 or GT2000 and the QMWheel V20 or V20 Pro.

Safety and the law

With 250W and assistance up to 20 km/h, the V20 Mini falls within the rules for an electric bicycle. You need no driving licence, helmet or number plate. The limit is fixed, so there is nothing to set or switch back.

The QMWheel V20 Mini in daily use

Comfort and riding position

Thanks to the low step-through you get on without swinging your leg high over the frame. The handlebar is adjustable, so you match the riding position to your height. The maximum load is 150 kg. A passenger on the back is not part of the deal: this model is for 1 person. At 30 kg it is not light, but it is easier to handle than a fatbike of 34 or 40 kg.

Battery and charging

The battery delivers 36V and 13Ah, together 468 Wh. On average assistance you ride about 50 km; the maximum is 60 km. If you cycle 20 km a day, you charge roughly every other day. Do allow 8 hours of charging from empty to full, so preferably charge overnight.

Not tunable, but legal straight away

The QMWheel V20 Mini is not tunable. The 20 km/h limit is fixed. For you that means: you always ride within the rules, without a code or switch. So there is no tuning kit to buy for this model. If you want to ride faster on private property, choose a tunable model from the comparison below. Tuned riding is allowed on private or enclosed property only; on the public road a maximum of 25 km/h pedal assist applies.

Service, warranty and delivery

On the V20 Mini you get 3 years warranty on the frame and 1 year on moving parts and the battery. For delivery you have two options. With Boxed, the bike arrives largely pre-assembled. You fit the front wheel, handlebar, pedals and saddle yourself; allow about half an hour. With Assembled, you receive it fully built up and adjusted, with tested brakes and a charged battery.

Parts and accessories for the QMWheel V20 Mini

When replacing parts, look for 36V, 16 inch and hydraulic brakes. If a part does not mention the V20 Mini, check first whether it fits.

Battery: check under batteries whether there is a 36V battery of 13Ah for the V20 Mini.
Tyres: under tyres, look for the 16 inch wheel size.
Brakes: parts for hydraulic systems are under brakes.
Lock: secure the bike with a lock from locks.

The Ouxi GT2000 has 48V / 30Ah / 1440Wh and gets 80 km on average assistance. It stands on 24 inch wheels, weighs 34 kg and, like the V20 Mini, is for 1 person. In the tunable version a killswitch lets you switch between restricted and 60 km/h for private property. The V20 Mini is smaller, with a low step-through instead of a high frame entry.

QMWheel V20 Mini versus Ouxi V8 Ultra Max

The Ouxi V8 Ultra Max has two batteries of 1440 Wh together and reaches 120 km on average assistance. It weighs 40 kg, charges in 5 to 7 hours, is suitable for 2 people and goes up to 50 km/h when tuned. The V20 Mini is 10 kg lighter, but goes less far on one charge.
